Curling Up With a Good Book

I've listened to a few audio books this year and have done my fair share of reading online as well, however nothing can replace the joy of curling up with a good book. There's something about a book that's so satisfying. Maybe it's the smell and feel of the pages, or the feel of the hard cover. Holding a book is so full of promise. It's filled with knowledge or adventures in a different world or time.
When I went down to visit Caren in New York, I had one of those surreal, timeless moments that could have taken place in a different era. I was curled up on her Shabby Chic couch in her Harlem brownstone apartment. Antique woodwork lined the ceiling and walls. The windows faced into the center courtyard with the glow of the other apartment windows taking over for the dark blue of the dusk sky. The wall in front of me was lined with books from edge to edge five rows tall. I had a book of short stories by F. Scott Fitzgerald in hand, and for a moment, I was just there. None of the daily fixes that I'm normally addicted mattered, such as my e-mail, Facebook, the Internet, etc... It was just me, the book and the room. Cars rushed by along 121st street. Distant sirens, horns and the subway could be heard muffled through the windows, adding to the coziness of being wrapped in a blanket inside. As the city rushed by outside, my little piece of the world stood frozen in time.

Let the Season Begin

It seems that the holiday season begins earlier and earlier every year. The radio stations playing Christmas music 24/7 begin shortly after Halloween this year. The season doesn't officially begin though until we do our Santa photos. We had the jolly fellow at our studio this past weekend. We had a great time, with kids of every age taking advantage of our more intimate sessions with Santa. Here are just a handful of the 2000+ images we shot this weekend.

Speaking of Gratitude

I can't believe I forgot to announce this and say Thank You to Ellen for redesigning my website. A few weeks ago we launched the complete makeover of Cheslerphoto.com. My web designer, Ellen, from Lake Effects Web Design, worked tirelessly to redesign the look of our site, including a complete makeover of the image galleries with much larger photos. Check it out.

Hey Baby!

Love Bug

I'm going to go a little out of order with this one since my October 18th wedding is on the drives at the studio. On October 23 and 24th, I photographed the wedding of William and Savita Love. It was a mixed Indian and Christian wedding with full ceremonies of each. On Friday evening I went to the Henna party way down a beautiful maple tree lined road along Keuka Lake, which was a seven mile tunnel of gold and amber leaves. On Saturday, the ceremony and reception were held at Esperanza Mansion overlooking the northern end of Keuka Lake. The wedding was deep with Indian traditions that were an absolute pleasure to photograph. William and Savita are such incredible people. It will be an honor to continue our friendship through the years.

Morski Wedding

It's been crazy busy the past month. I'm still playing catch up with posting the recent weddings. On October 16, I photographed the engagement session of Carrie and Jason, followed by their wedding the next day. It was a spectacular fall wedding at Belhurst Castle and White Springs Manor in Geneva. I know I've said it before, but I have the best job in the world to be able to work week after week with such amazing couples. Congratulations Carrie and Jason. You guys were awesome.
