Play time

I've been playing with a new program called Lucis Art. I love digital. It allows so much more freedom of expression than film did, at least for me it does. I used to sit in the darkroom for hours manipulating photos. It was magic to see the results appear before my eyes in the developer tray. The orange glow of the safelight along with the smell of the chemistry created an atmosphere that added to that magical feeling. All that is gone with digital, replaced by a new kind of magic. Fixer has been replaced by pixels and stop bath replaced by the undo button. What took me a day in the darkroom to play with one photo, now takes minutes with infinite variations available at my finger tips.

A new era

Well, after 5 years, I'm sad to say that we will not be at Amy's Blooming Barn this year for our Santa photos. It has been a privilege to work with Amy all these years and hope to be back there soon. We still have the world's greatest santa, but we will be at two new venues.

On Saturday, Dec. 2, we will be at Five Seasons Gifts on Route 332 from 1-4 p.m. I have known Barb and Vic for years and am honored to have the opportunity to work with them on this venture.

On Sunday, Dec. 3, we will be at Bristol Harbour from 1-4 p.m. teaming up with my buddy Sara Goff. Sara used to be one of my second shooters at weddings and is now the event planner at Bristol Harbour.

Here is the link to the flyer we have for the two events.

It's Official

I did it. I am now an official blogger. It's only been in the last month or so that I've seen an explosion of photographer related blogs. Not that they weren't there before then, I just wasn't exposed to them. So where do I start? I guess wherever I want to.

I've recently been exposed to David Jay's Open Source Photo forum, which is where I've seen most of the photo blogs. Great site. If you're a photographer you need to be there.

I've also discovered a great piece of software there called Showit Web2. It's a web based slideshow program. Here are a few of my first slideshows with it.

Here is one of my favorite images from this past wedding season.
