Lora and Kylie

Lora and Kylie got married today in Massena. The ceremony was at a small church with beautiful window light coming in. After the ceremony we went over to a family farm and got some great shots with an old Farmall tractor that had been in the family for years. Then we headed to Kylie's parent's house to get a few shots on the St. Lawrence River. The reception was 30 miles up the river in Ogendensburg at a place called the Gran View Hotel. Rich and I are staying in a sister property if the Gran View tonight called the Wind Jammer. Both places are right on the river, which is more like a very long lake it's so big. The family property on the river in Massena used to be a farm before the river was dammed in the 1950s. What was once a field and an adjacent road is now a huge bay on the St. Lawrence. Tomorrow, we're going to head in to Lake Placid for the day. Have fun in Mexico Lora and Kylie.

Massena

Rich and I met in Massena, NY, along the St. Lawrence River, to photograph the wedding of Lora and Kylie tomorrow. We joined them for their rehearsal and the dinner following it at Kylie's parents house right on the river. After a great meal we all headed down to the shore line for a camp fire. Lightning in the distance set the stage for a surreal looking moment, however the mosquito's brought us back to reality.

Silver Sharks

On Tuesday I photographed my son Cade's soccer game. He plays for the Silver Sharks in the Canandaigua Area Soccer League at Baker Park. The games are so cute. The kids look like a swarm of bees surrounding the soccer ball until the ball squirts free and a lone player is on a charge to the net. The Silver Sharks won their first game 4-3 and had a come from behind tie 3-3 in their second game. I don't know if they actually keep score or stats, but it's fun routing for them.

She Said Yes, at Belhurst

While shooting a wedding this past weekend at Belhurst Castle, my friend Carmen, who is the event coordinator there, approached me about a proposal that was about to happen. Matthew and Adrienne got engaged down on the docks at Belhurst along Seneca Lake. I spoke with Matt afterwards and here is a recap in his own words.

I surprised her at work (Vonnie's Boathouse), brought her a change of clothes, set up to have another co-worker there to cover for her from 4-6pm, and took her to the Belhurst for dinner. Between dinner and desert we went for a walk along the property and ended up down on the dock at which time I proposed, followed by the next surprise that I had already planned for us to get married in September of 2010 at the Belhurst.

Congratulations Matthew and Adrienne!

Father's Day Wedding

With the forecast calling for showers for the second day in a row, I was a bit apprehensive on our chances of having an outdoor ceremony at Belhurst. Mother nature must be married because she delivered on Father's Day. Terry and Janine had an intimate wedding on the back lawn at Belhurst. Toward the end of the day, we even had breaks of sun. Congrats Terry and Janine.

Soggy Saturday

It would be very easy to get caught up in the fact that in rained all day, and I mean ALL DAY, on the most important day in Dan and Michelle's lives. But that would diminish the fact that they had a beautiful wedding in an amazing chapel on the campus of Cornell University. Rain or shine, the campus is beautiful, perched on a hill overlooking Ithaca. We did get to use some of the architecture of the campus despite the rain, before heading to Wagner Vineyard in Lodi. At Wagner, we did photos in their barrel room which has a dark, rustic feel to it, followed by the reception at the Ginny Lee Cafe at the winery. All in all, it was a beautiful day.
