My Next Career

If I ever change careers, this is what I want to do. This is for every little boy who has ever run around the house, tongue flapping in the breeze with spit flying everywhere, making the loudest revving engine noise possible...that was me. (and occasionally still is when no one is looking)

This is my favorite photo of myself, before the love handles and double chin.

Old is a State of Mind

It's official. I'm pushing 40. I turned 39 today making it less than a year until I leave my thirties in the dust. I still feel like I'm only 38 and a half. The day was quiet for the most part. I spent the day at the studio and then went to dinner at The Essenhaus in Penn Yan with Sue, the kids and my sister Ellen. I heard that the food there was great, especially the desserts, so I had to try it out. It did not disappoint.

I was amazed at how many birthday wishes I received on Facebook. It is truly an amazing social media outlet.

Ironically, I spent a good amount of time today editing photos of an adorable little baby. It's hard to believe I was ever that small, but 39 years ago, that was me. Since no body wants to see photos of an aging, out of shape photographer, I will spare you and show you images of little Brock.

Vetter Champions!!!

What a way to end the season! The Canandaigua Knights U12 Girls won the championship of the Vetter Memorial Hockey Tournament at the Canandaigua Civic Center. The girls put on a display of text book hockey to win the championship 4-0 over a very tough Ithaca team.

I can not put in to words how proud I am of this team. They have worked so hard the entire year, developing in to fine hockey players and true friends. The entire group of parents and players have become a tight knit family and I am truly honored to be a part of it and call them friends.

Today was one of those surreal historic moments in life when a story for generations was created. To all my baby birds who sit on the bench with their mouths wide open waiting for a squirt of water, you have wiggled your way in to my heart and I am looking forward to the years ahead on the ice.

Congratulations Sarah, Tessa, Olivia, Bella, Celeste, Nikolle, Hannah, Kaileen, Mary, Jenna, Courtney and Casey.

Champions

Although the girls didn't win the tournament championship, they are the 2008-2009 league champions with an 8-1-3 record. Both the U12 and U16 Canandaigua Knights girl's teams made it to the tournament championship, which is a testament to their growth having been in existence for only three years. Both teams cheered each other on as they battled on the ice. I'm proud of both teams and honored to be a part of their legacy. Here are some photos from this weekend.

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Today is Sarah's 11th birthday. I'm proud of the young lady she's becoming. We had an awesome weekend at her team's hockey tournament in Olean. It was way more than just about hockey though. Sarah has created a new family with her teammates, forging friendships that will last a lifetime. They all celebrated her birthday with her for the entire weekend. Winning the championship would have been the icing on the cake, but the friends she has on this team weigh 100 times more than any trophy ever could. Happy Birthday Sweetie Peetie. We love you.

Elusive Steelhead

My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it. ~Koos Brandt

After years of winter fishing for Steelhead, I finally caught one today on one of the Lake Ontario tributaries. I actually hooked up with two of them but was only able to land one. They are so strong it's unbelievable. I told Daryn that I am not buying my own steelhead rod until I catch one on the equipment I already own. Shhh, don't tell Sue I have to get one now.

Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths. ~Author Unknown
